Tish Foods and Cereals Enterprise is a Ghanaian woman-led business founded by Mrs. Liticia Gyimah Anson in 2022, located at Kwabenya ACP Estates in the Ga East Municipality. She established the enterprise out of a strong desire and passion for producing healthy cereal foods for babies, sparked by a request from her Pastor for a breakfast cereal known as tombrown. Before launching this venture, she had been offering consulting services to small businesses but eventually lost interest in consulting. Encouraged by her Godmother and positive feedback from initial customers, she decided to turn her homemade cereals into a full-fledged commercial endeavor.
She now focuses on manufacturing quick and easy-to-prepare cereals with high nutritional value. Initially unregistered with the FDA, she successfully secured FDA approval for four of her products through assistance from the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) and the Mastercard Foundation. This support also enabled her to benefit from a three-day financial literacy training program offered by Stanbic Bank, as well as participate in market exhibitions such as the Onua Fair and the 2023 and 2024 Farmer’s Day celebrations. Through the GEA YouStart program, she received a grant worth GHS 16,000, which was used to acquire a hammer miller machine, procure raw materials, and purchase a digital scale.
Further regulatory support from GEA under the Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works project helped facilitate her FDA approval process. This milestone led to increased sales and prompted the business to upgrade its packaging in order to compete with imported brands and expand its customer base. She remains deeply appreciative of the assistance provided by GEA and looks forward to accessing additional resources, including further business management training, funding, and other support, with the goal of scaling up operations and creating more employment opportunities for the benefit of the nation.
