Greater Accra has taken the lead in Ghana’s development planning process, becoming the first region to secure full certification of all district development plans for the 2026–2029 period.
The milestone was announced at the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) consultative engagement with Regional Coordinating Councils, where the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, described the achievement as both a proud honour and a call to greater responsibility.
Hon. Linda Ocloo noted that as Ghana’s capital region and economic hub, Greater Accra continues to face growing demands in infrastructure, housing, sanitation, transportation and public service delivery. She stressed that the Region’s full certification reflects its commitment to disciplined planning, strong coordination and effective implementation.
She reaffirmed that Greater Accra will not only lead in planning, but also in ensuring that approved plans translate into real improvements in jobs, infrastructure, sanitation and the quality of life of residents.
Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah, Director-General of the NDPC, applauded the Region for setting the national standard and encouraged other regions to follow Greater Accra’s example in prioritisingtimely submissions, responsiveness to review comments, and alignment with national development priorities.
