The Environmental Health Department organized a medical screening exercise for some food vendors such as street food hawker, tabletop vendors, restaurants, school feeding contractors, chop bar and drinking spot in order to ascertain their health condition and status in the office. A total of four hundred and twelve (412) food vendors were medically screened. Among these vendors, four (4) were tested positive for typhoid fever, and twenty-seven (27) vendors also tested positive for hepatitis B. three hundred and eighty-one (381) were medically fit and issued with the medical certificates, while these thirty-one (31) infected vendors were counselled and advised to seek medical treatment and undergo re-testing.
