The Greater Accra Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture has opened what they call a “Friday Market” to promote urban fish farming for sustainable economic growth and development in the Adentan municipality. The initiative he indicated was to bolster the interests of farmers who intend to go into fish farming. He said the initiative was to create an opportunity for their produce to be sold to prospective buyers in and around the municipality. He indicated that the initiative was under the Fish For Development Project (FIDEP). A market has been created for the sale of fish produced under the project through the initiation of FRIDAY SALES at the Adentan Municipal Assembly.
The first sales was opened on Friday 9th September, 2022 to kick start all other Fridays for the sale of fish produce and fish farming inputs in the municipality. The director of Agric indicated that the project would be scaled up if it becomes successful.
