The Department collaborated with the Regional Coordinating Council to organize quarterly Regional Child Protection Committee meetings. The objective of the meetings was to discuss Child protection and its related issues in the region. Other objectives were to give updates on the activities of members and also to combine efforts to promote the survival, growth, development and protection of Children in our area of jurisdiction. The key issues discussed include: drug abuse among Children, Child labour and sexual exploitation, Parents not willing to accept detention Children back home, early and Child marriage, Children on the street, unwillingness of people to cater for their Children and high level of non-maintenance cases in the region.
