GAR MOFA TRAINS OFFICERS AND FARMERS ON GHANA AGRICULTURAL AND AGRIBUSINESS PLATFORM (GhAAP)

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has developed a digital platform named Ghana Agriculture and Agribusiness Platform (GhAAP). This platform will be deployed to coordinate, manage, and monitor the operations of the Planting for Food and Jobs Phase 2.

The Directorate of Agricultural Extension Services (DAES) of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in collaboration with the Regional Department of Agriculture of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council on Friday, organized a day’s workshop with the objective of equipping Agricultural Extension Agents to register farmers and map out their farms and also equip District Agricultural Extension Officers to supervise and monitor the activities of Agricultural Extension Agents in their respective Districts.

Present at the workshop were the Chief Director of the Regional Coordinating Council, Mrs. Lilian Baeka, Regional Director of Agriculture Mr. Eric Asomaning, District Directors of Agriculture, Extension Officers, and Three Agricultural Extension Agents from all the respective 29 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembles (MMDAs) in the Greater Accra region.

 The Chief Director of the Regional Coordinating council, Mrs. Lilian Baeka, in her address applauded participants for being prompt with time and touched on the need for participants to pay attention to every detail of the presentations to ensure the successful implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs Phase 2.

The Regional Director of Agriculture in his welcome address, urged participants to take up the training serious, meaningfully contribute and be active to make the training successful one.

Mr. Francis Korankye, Head of IT at the Directorate of Agricultural Extension of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), a resource person for the training, took participants through the Ghana Agriculture and Agribusiness Platform and efficiently trained them on the use of the platform. He also took them through the process of registering farmers and how District Extension Officers will approve or reject a farmer request.
