GARCC Chief Director & MCE Ablekuma North Observe “My First Day at School”

The Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Mrs. Lilian Baeka together with the Regional Director of Education, embarked on a tour of schools within the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly as part of activities observing “My First Day at School.”

The schools visited were the Odorkor Salaria 1&2 and the Prince of Peace Roman Catholic School.The visit was to formally welcome students to school for the first time or those being promoted from the kindergarten to the primary level to mark the beginning of the academic calendar and were presented with gifts such as school bags, stationeries, drinks and biscuits just to make the day a memorable one for them.

In addressing both pupils and teachers, Mrs. Baeka expressed the appreciation of the Regional Coordinating Council to all teachers for their selflessness, commitment, and dedication to work which has improved the quality of education in the region.     

Accordingly, she tasked them not to relent on their owls but continue with the good work to ensure that the high standard of education does not drop.

She used the opportunity to advise the pupils to study hard and improve on their grades and avoid bad company to be responsible adults capable of managing the affairs of the state.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Ablekuma North, Hon. Kofi Ofori, expressed his appreciation to the regional team and pledged his support and that of his Assembly to ensure that the standard of Education is improved within his Municipality.

He called on the Regional Director of Education and his team to ensure continuous and effective monitoring of all activities in his Municipality to ensure that pertinent issues are brought to his attention for immediate attention.

 

Mr. Stephen Abamfo, The Regional Director of Education, noted that his Directorate is committed to Government’s goal of ensuring free compulsory basic education. He said since basic education was the foundation upon which the acquisition of knowledge begins, critical attention should be paid in this regard by all stakeholders to ensure that childhood education is given the requisite attention in the region.
