The Office of the Head of Local Government Service with the support of the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programmed has developed, fully disseminated and trained management and selected staff of all the 16 Regional Coordinating Councils and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the Country on the Client Service Operational Manual for the service.
Pursuant to this, the trainers for the Greater Accra Region have undertaken a training programmed for heads of Departments and Units of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council to build their capacity on the newly developed operational manual.
In her opening remarks, the Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Mrs. Lilian Baeka noted that client service unit has come to stay, and it is therefore imperative for staff to equip themselves with the requisite skills needed to effectively deliver services to both the external and internal publics and stakeholders of the council.
Adding that, the one delivering a service is as important as the customer receiving, and staff must therefore be very professional and circumspect in their dealings as the way you communicate with people defines your personality.
She encouraged staff with the requite qualification to apply for conversion into that area and take advantage of the prospective training programmes currently being untaken by the Office of the Head of Local Government Service.
Topics treated at the training programme included client service management, the organization and functions of the clients, job description and competencies.
Others include Local Government Service electronic complains and enquires, compliance and monitoring, operational procedures, and procedures in handling clients.
