The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has signed a Memoranda of understanding with TIAST Co-operation, a Chinese company to add value to agriculture in an effort to create jobs and ensure food security in the Greater Accra region.
This agenda forms part of government’s five-year master plan for planting for food and jobs phase 2, which was launched this year and expected to transform the Agric sector in Ghana.
Signing the Agreement, the Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Henry Quartey, noted that the region being the capital is cosmopolitan in nature with more arable farms within the four (4) districts of the region; namely Ada East, Ada West, Ningo-Prampram and Shai-Osudoku.
He therefore urged Tiast Co-operation to tailor services and programmes to suit farmers in the region for a more efficient and effective production of crops and livestock.
The Chief Executive Officer of Tiast Co- operation, Mr. Freca Xiao said he is optimistic that the agreement between his outfit and GARCC will help spur growth in the agriculture within the Greater Accra region and the country as a whole.
He expressed the hope that everybody would work in unity to promote the good offer he has in stock for Ghanaians in the agriculture sector.
