Staff of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating council (GARCC) have undergone intensive training on performance appraisal to enhance their professional development and increase productivity.
The training program which was organised at the GARCC Conference Room and staff from all departments, with advanced skills in evaluating and enhancing their individual and collective job performance.
Spearheaded by the Office of the Head of Local Government Service, the one-day training programme sought to instil best practices in performance assessment and foster a results-oriented approach among the staff of the GARCC
The overarching objective of the training programme was to create a transparent and equitable performance evaluation process that aligns individual goals with the broader organisational vision.
Mr Baah Tetteh, Principal Engineer at the Local Government Service, who facilitated the training underscored that Key Performance Areas (KPAs) referred to the general areas of outcomes or outputs for which a job was responsible and areas for which the employee was responsible for producing results.
He stressed that to identify KPAs individuals should answer what they thought were the most important things they have to do and what they believe were expected to be achieved in each area.
He added that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on the other hand need to specify clearly defined expected results, how to measure success, be within the employee’s control and not overly dependent on outside factors as well as have a direct and obvious link to the employee’s jobs and time-bound.
