The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey on Thursday 2 7th January, 2022 called on the clergy and corporate Ghana to support and participate in the ‘operation clean your frontage’ campaign at Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra The minister explained that, the clergy has massive following and their active participation would give prominence to the campaign and drive the interest of the members to also participate. Hon. Henry Quartey commented that, the Greater Accra Regional Co-ordinating Council would embark on an extensive awareness and sensitization float which would kick-start on 1st February, 2022. ‘We need the clergy if this programme will be a success. Our people respect and follow the guidelines you provide them in summons’. The minister said. According to the minister, about 30,000 personnels would be deployed to partake in the sensitization exercise. These personnels would assemble at the independence square at 5:00am in the morning on that day and move to areas like Makola, CBD, Lapaz, Osu,first light, Abossey Okai, Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, among others. The minister hinted that, MMDA’s in the region have been tasked to establish waste transfer sites to enable collection and disposal of waste in the communities. He also, indicated that about 1,400 taskforce personnels have been recruited and are undergoing training. Methodist Bishop of Accra, Reverend Emmanuel Borlarbi Bortey, Rev. Cyril Fayose General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev. Andrew Odonkor, District Minister of Accra Central District Presbyterian church, Rev. Emmanuel Barrigah, General Secretary of GPCC, the Catholic Bishop of Accra were among the clergy that graced the event. In a separate meeting with CEOs and Managing Directors of corporate Ghana, Hon. Henry Quartey also appealed to them to also support the agenda of ” making Greater Accra Work” hence by keeping their environment and surroundings clean. Again he stated that the Regional Coordinating Council Would welcome any institution that adopts any of the major roundabouts in Accra for greening and beautification purposes.
