The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has met all 29 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA’s) their technical teams in the region to assess their execution plans on the operation clean your frontage campaign which would kick start on 1st February, 2022.
The programme was scheduled for two days in a row from Wednesday, 19th January to Thursday 20th, January 2022 at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Hall.
The regional minister stated that, the operation clean your frontage would begin with a mass education and sensitization hence, it is important to understand the strategies adopted by the MMDA’s to enforce the implementation of the initiative.
The technical teams of the 29 MMDA’s presented their respective strategies, including the successes and the challenges they encountered in piloting the sanitation bye-law.
Hon. Henry Quartey, commended the Assemblies for an impressive piloting exercise of the campaign. He emphasized that the campaign was for the good of the entire country for which everyone had to get on board.
The regional minister stated that, the government was working on getting the transfer sites ready but would still continue with the implementation of the exercise next.
Hon. Henry Quartey said, a city Response team who were about 600 has been profiled and are to start receiving training from next week. He added ‘it is expected that by the end of February they will be back. By that time some of the transfer sites would have been ready.’
The minister indicated that, the municipal assemblies and some National service personnels would be deployed to begin raising awareness because he wants people of Ghana to embrace this initiative and make it part and parcel of their daily lives and not see this exercise as forced.
