The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quartey on Wednesday held a stakeholder engagement with all elected and appointed Assembly Members in all the twenty-nine Assemblies to officially solicit their support for the three-day Operation Clean Your Frontage exercise within the Tema Metropolis ahead of the Regional Independence Day celebration.
The celebration which is under the theme: “Our Unity! Our Strength! Our Purpose brought together all the six hundred and twenty four (624) Assembly Members within the region.
Addressing the meeting the Regional Minister reemphasize on the need to strategically cut down cost while still inspiring patriotism and communal involvement.
The Tema Metropolis, according to Hon. Henry Quartey, will be divided into 14 zones for a massive sanitation enforcement and clean up exercise to be supervised by all 29 MMDCEs with support from the security and intelligence agencies.
Accordingly he noted that shops and businesses will remain closed from 6am to 10am each day, for effective participation in the cleaning exercise. Landlords, households, businesses, shops, guarages, market traders, transport operators, and other identifiable groups are expected to join in this massive exercise, he stressed.
He called on all assembly members, and stakeholders to join in this important communal exercise ahead of the 66th Independence Day celebration.
