Hungarian Foreign Affairs & Trade Minister calls on Greater Accra Regional Minister

The Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister of the Republic of Hungary H.E. Mr. Peter Szijarto, paid a courtesy call on the Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Henry Quartey to discuss areas of cooperation between the two governments.

Speaking at the meeting, Hon. Henry Quartey, deliberated on the possibility of initiating a training program for staff of the Regional Coordinating Council to help build their capacity in various areas in Local governance for the benefit of his region.

In the area of health, the Greater Accra Regional Minister indicated that the Hungarian embassy provided equipment and logistics to support the Princess Marie Louis children’s hospital, the only health facility for children in the region. Adding that as a Member of Parliament, he has renovated a building within his constituency in Ayawaso Central with the intention to convert it into a children’s hospital to assist in health care delivery of children.

He therefore, implored on the Minister and his team to assist in equipping the facility in an effort to implement the only children’s hospital in the Greater Accra region.

E. Peter szijarto, in his response commended the Hon Regional Minster for his vision, dedication and commitment to work especially in the area of sanitation all in a quest to ensure that his region being a cosmopolitan one stands tall.

He indicated that he would direct the Hungarian scholarship secretariat to design tailor made programmes and allocate some to the staff of Regional Coordinating Council to build their capacity for the development of Ghana.
