Kpone, Greater Accra Region – In a historic event on [insert date], the President of the Czech Republic, His Excellency [insert name], officially commissioned the newly constructed 40-bed Kpone Municipal Hospital in the Kpone-Katamanso Municipality of the Greater Accra Region. The Kpone Municipal Hospital is one of 12 modern healthcare facilities being constructed across Ghana, made possible through an export credit guarantee from EGAP of the Czech Republic. The project was executed by VAMED Engineering GmbH of Austria, a globally recognized firm with expertise in healthcare infrastructure, and was completed within the stipulated 24-month timeline.
Fully equipped to provide comprehensive healthcare services, the hospital features outpatient and public health departments, surgical theatres, a neonatal intensive care unit, laboratory and radiology facilities, male, female, and pediatric wards, a services block, and staff accommodation. It also includes training and maintenance components to ensure the long-term sustainability of the facility.
Speaking at the commissioning, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo noted that the project is a testament to the Government’s commitment to ensuring no Ghanaian is left behind in accessing quality healthcare, aligning with the country’s drive toward achieving the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in Universal Health Coverage.
She also highlighted the collaborative efforts between Ghana and the Czech Republic, expressing profound gratitude to the Czech President, the government, and the people of the Czech Republic for their unwavering support in making the hospital a reality.
“This facility belongs to the people of Kpone-Katamanso. I urge you to take ownership, protect it, and support the dedicated health professionals who will serve here,” she stated
The Greater Accra Regional Minister after welcoming the visiting Czech delegation, called for a continued collaboration between the two nations in the health sector and beyond.
