Okaikwei North gets new MCE

Members of the Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly on Thursday endorsed the Presidents nominee, Nii Boye Laryea, as the Municipal Chief Executive of the area.
He polled fourteen out of fourteen votes to get a 100 per cent record.
The announcement drew wild cheers from the gathering which includes party faithful, chiefs, religious leaders and the Regional Minister, Mr. Ishmael Ashitey.
Mr. Ashitey had earlier appealed to the assembly members to approve the nominee to assure the President that the area was ready to support his planned programmes and policies.
Mr. Laryea in his maiden address expressed gratitude to the President for the confidence reposed in him and the assembly members for endorsing him to champion the government’s developmental agenda.
He promised not to let the area down and stressed that he would operate an open-door policy and serve with dedication and humility.
Nii Laryea said, as the first MCE, he would work with the MP’s to strengthen the finances of the assembly which calls for a lot of sacrifice beyond the call to duty.
‘All hands must be on deck as we start doing new things in order to take the assembly to the door steps of the people’, he said.
He indicated that the assembly would soon create a comprehensive data base of properties in the municipality for effective revenue mobilisation; create a website and mobile application unit to have regular interactions with the residents on issues bothering them.
‘We shall set the standards that would place the assembly at the top of the regional and national ladder’.
