The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has organized durbar to engage staff on the issues concerning the assembly and the staff at the Okaikwei North Municipal premises.
The Municipal Chief Executive of Okaikwei North, Hon. Boye Laryea praised staff of the Assembly for their dedicated service towards the growth and development of the Assembly. He said that the Assembly since its inception in 2018 has seen a study growth and development partly attributable to the meritorious service of the staff.
“You are part of the success we have drawn, all of you are part and I commend you for that…” he said.
The Okaikwei North MCE indicated “This is how far we have come and the Assembly is gradually growing. Between 2018 and 2020 all the projects you see around was started around that time before COVID Struck.” Hon. Boye Laryea was however optimistic that the slowness in the progress of the projects due to COVID “will change”.
He reiterated his plea to the staff to report to work on time and avoid the lateness. According to him staff lateness is hampering the progress of work and urged the new Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Francis Mensah to reverse the trend by taking the necessary action.
Hon. Boye Laryea tasked the Government of Ghana staff to take their employment seriously because there are no jobs.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Francis Mensah who described the occasion as rare said the event serves as an opportunity for the staff to meet management and share their challenges for redress. He explained that the durbar was also an occasion for staff to meet and interact with the MCE.
The Deputy Director, Mr. Seidu Salifu took the gathering through the Local Government Service and structure, the Assembly structure, the laws that mandates the Assembly to carry out its duties and the Local Government Act.
The durbar also coincided with the introduction of the new Municipal Coordinating Director and Municipal Finance Officer Madam Akorfa Adu-Gamadeku to the staff.
The Management of the Assembly answered questions ranging from insanitary conditions from, improper citing of the Fadama Astroturf which is distracting teaching and learning activities among them.
