The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon Henry Quartey as Chairman of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), together with the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor held a stakeholder engagement with the Chiefs and wolomei of the Nungua Traditional Area on the state of the Ramsar encroached lands.
Addressing the council, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resource, Hon. Jinapor stated the committee set up to look into the Ramsar encroachment is finalizing the report noting that the core area of the Ramsar still remain non-negotiable.
He reiterated that his Ministry would continue to engage the Chiefs to ensure that as custodians of the lands their interest is taken into consideration.
The Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Henry Quartey noted that REGSEC will set up a security task force to patrol the area at all times to prevent new encroachment.
