The Greater Accra Regional Department of Agriculture and the Shai-Osudoku District in collaboration with JICA from Japan has established a vegetable demonstration centre at Dodowa through the GSHEP project.
The GSHEP is a 5-year project being implemented in 5 selected regions and 1 district in each of these selected regions. The aim is to build the capacity of vegetable farmers to produce to sell and not to produce and sell.
Officers and Farmers have been trained on improved methods of vegetable farming and marketing.
Field Demonstrations on various practices of vegetable farming have been established on two farms in the Shai Osudoku district.
Also, 15 women were trained in using vegetables produced locally to prepare balanced meals. It is expected that these women will use vegetables produced by these farmers to prepare balanced meals for the household.
