The Regional Environmental Health and Sanitation Department conducted monitoring of food, water and drugs manufactured for public consumption within the various these areas on Friday 28th October, 2022. This was to ensure that food, water and drugs manufactured were done in a safe environment and are in perfect hygienic condition from the raw state, the preparation and transportation to the point of sale.
A total of fifteen (15) factories were inspected to check for production procedures and environment while 10 shops were also visited to check for dates of expiry, dented cans and other traces of food spoilage.
Also fourteen (14) supermarkets in had a total of 42 packets of aerated drinks, 24 packs of assorted biscuits, 46 bottles of Apple cider and 12 tins of 100g meat products seized. These were destroyed after court order was sought.
