On 19th October, 2023, a delegation from the Bombali Council in Sierra Leone visited staff of Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly. The purpose of the visit was to share knowledge and experience about Local governance.
The head of the delegation for the study tour, Madam Vivian Senesi expressed her sentiments about the long standing diplomatic ties both country shares and the need to strengthen the bonds for a better Africa. She encouraged officials of KKMA to share their strengths, weaknesses and best practices with her team members.
A Deputy Director of KKMA in the person of Mr Kenneth Daniels shared a peculiar revenue mobilization strategy with the delegation from Bombali Council. He explained that collections are done during weekends, holidays and at night to nab apathetic rate payers. He added that, there is the issuance of summon letters to tax defaulters for not complying with tax obligations. This is normally followed by prosecution action as a last resort. Mr Daniels explained that KKMA was carved out of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.
The delegation was presented with the KKMA service delivery charter for 2023. In a bid to make the delgation have a feel of the rich Ghanaian culture they were served with local dishes such as Banku and Tilapia, Fufu and Groundnut soup, Apeprensah, Kenkey and Fish
