The Senior Manager for Corporate Communications at MTN Ghana, Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, advised women in public relations to be proactive and leverage on existing technology to better themselves in the profession.

She stated that public relations and corporate communications were sensitive areas which needed keen attention with proper planning and time management.

Mrs. Fiagbenu in her speech at a workshop organized in partnership with Women in Public Relations Ghana (WPR) said public relations was fast growing and there was a need for women to learn and upgrade themselves in all aspects through research and digitalization to make themselves relevant in the profession.

She said in managing crisis in an organization, there was a need to have crisis communication strategy and what she called issues monitoring to minimize crisis in the organization.

The workshop engaged some young public relations practitioners and enlightened participants on what the profession was about.

Participants were engaged by the five heads of the corporate communication department of the Telecommunication company.

The workshop was also to mark the International Women’s Day which is celebrated on March 8 every year.

The founder of Women in Public Relation Ghana, Faith Senam Ocloo, said the goal for her organization was to bridge the gap between young people and professionals. That, she said, was the reason they organized the workshop so that young public relations practitioners could learn from the best and learn innovative ideas which would help manage their profession.

She stated that digitization helped in constant engagement with stakeholders and colleagues at a convenient pace to meet the goals and objectives of the company.
