The Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Mrs Lilian Baeka has called on all stakeholders in the Sanitation sector to come together, initiate ideas, take a stand and protect the health and wellbeing of all Ghanaians in the fight against filth in the country.
Speaking at the World Health Environmental Day, organised by the Graduate Environmental Health and Sanitation Professionals Association in Ghana, she said that the world is currently facing numerous environmental challenges from climate change, air pollution, air pollution, poor Sanitation, flooding, water scarcity and its related issues.
She noted that challenges stated does not only threaten the delicate balance of nature but also pose significant risk to our health.
Mrs. Baeka used the opportunity to recognise the dedication and commitment of environmental health officers who sacrificed and risked their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic and presented them with honouring certificates.
She called for attitudinal change and urged all to recommit themselves to the cause of good environmental practices in our daily activities adding that Operation Clean Your Frontage has been revamped to ensure that Accra becomes clean and green.
The celebration was themed ” Global Environmental Public Health, standing up to protect Everyone’s Health Each and everyday.
