Greater Accra is setting the pace in regional healthcare under the leadership of Regional Minister Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo. At the opening of the 2025 Greater Accra Regional Health Sector Performance Review Meeting, she described the meeting as a crucial checkpoint” for improving health services and outcomes across the region.
The Greater Accra Minister highlighted challenges from rapid urbanization, population growth, and rising cases of communicable and non-communicable diseases. She applauded the Health Directorate’s initiatives, including the Zonal Concept for Maternal and Perinatal Health and the Wellness Centre at the Regional Coordinating Council, aimed at improving maternal care and promoting preventive health.
Hon. Ocloo urged all stakeholders from government institutions to community leaders to work together to strengthen service delivery and ensure that health plans translate into real improvements for residents. She emphasized that every cedi invested must produce measurable results.
She concluded by charging participants to actively engage, share experiences, and develop practical solutions that will build a stronger, more resilient health system for the Greater Accra Region.
Professor Samuel Akoriya Kaba, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, applauded Greater Accra for its progress under Hon. Ocloo’s leadership and highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships and disciplined planning in achieving universal health coverage.
