On Monday, 13th July, 2026, the Hon. Regional Minister, in her capacity as Chairperson of the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC), led members of the Council to a meeting at the Ga Traditional Council.
The meeting was convened at the instance of His Royal Majesty, the Ga Mantse and Overlord of the Ga State, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru III, to discuss security arrangements and identify potential flashpoints within the Ga Traditional Areas ahead of the celebration of the 2026 Homowo Festival.
As part of the engagement, the Hon. Regional Minister conveyed the profound appreciation of His Excellency the President, John Dramani Mahama, to His Royal Majesty, the Ga Mantse, and the Chiefs of the Ga Traditional Council for their active participation and invaluable support during the two-day National Sanitation Exercise. She commended their leadership and commitment to the initiative, noting that their involvement greatly contributed to the successful execution of the exercise across the Greater Accra Region.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for the Ga Traditional Council to brief REGSEC on key traditional activities associated with the Homowo Festival, highlight emerging security concerns, and propose measures to ensure the peaceful observance of the festivities. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the traditional authorities and the security agencies to maintain law and order, prevent disturbances, and safeguard lives and property throughout the festive period.
Members of REGSEC reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the Ga Traditional Council and all relevant stakeholders to ensure that the 2026 Homowo Festival is celebrated in an atmosphere of peace, security, unity, and mutual respect for the customs and traditions of the Ga people.
