Greater Accra Regional Minister Embarks on Working Visit to Shai

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, paid an official working visit to the Shai Osudoku District Assembly as part of her ongoing engagements with all 29 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region.

In her address, Hon. Ocloo highlighted key areas of concern and development, announcing the re-activation of the Regional Sanitation Day initiative. She urged residents of Shai Osudoku to actively participate in the exercise, stressing the need for collaboration with traditional authorities, private sector actors, and other stakeholders to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.

Touching on street lighting, Hon. Ocloo commended efforts made so far but admitted that more needs to be done to enhance security and economic activity. She revealed that stakeholders had raised concerns about inadequate lighting and assured that additional measures would be implemented to address the situation.

On financial accountability, the Regional Minister emphasized the importance of strict compliance in the use of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to guarantee value for money. She expressed worry over persistent audit infractions, noting that such practices erode public trust and negatively affect service delivery.

The Minister also encouraged Assembly members to foster cordial relationships with each other and with technocrats, whose expertise she described as crucial to effective governance and smooth service delivery. She pledged her commitment to work closely with the Shai Osudoku District Assembly and its people for the development of the district and the region at large.

Her visit concluded with discussions on ongoing projects, challenges, and strategies to improve the quality of life for residents of the district.
