The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Ocloo, has inaugurated the newly sworn-in Members of the Greater Accra Regional Spatial Planning Committee, charging them to work with integrity and dedication to ensure orderly and sustainable development across the region.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony in Accra, the Minister congratulated the Committee and emphasized the importance of land use and spatial planning to the economic growth and livability of the capital city and its surrounding communities.
“Effective planning determines how land and space are used, ensuring that activities complement one another, promote growth, and create harmony within our communities. When applied well, it drives development and improves the living conditions of our people,” she said.
She reminded the members that their work is guided by the Land Use and Spatial Planning Act, 2016 (Act 925) and its Regulations, L.I. 2384 of 2019, which provide a clear legal framework for planning at the national, regional, district, and local levels.
Hon. Ocloo further urged the Committee to support the President’s “Resetting Agenda,” stressing that their decisions would play a key role in shaping the future of the Greater Accra Region. “The task ahead will not always be easy. We may encounter disputes, complaints, appeals, and enforcement challenges. Yet, I encourage you to approach this duty with integrity, dedication, and a strong sense of purpose,” she added.
As Chairperson of the Committee, the Minister assured members of her full support and pledged that the Regional Coordinating Council would provide the necessary leadership, coordination, and resources to enable them to succeed.
She concluded with optimism, saying: “The work begins today, and I am confident that, together, we will build a better planned, stronger, and more livable Greater Accra Region.”
