The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders to promote integrated urban planning, improve service delivery and build resilient communities as Ghana works towards sustainable urban development.
Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo (MP), The Greater Accra Regional Minister have the assurance at the launch of the National Urban Policy and Implementation Plan (2026-2035) and the Ninth Session of the Ghana Urban Forum held in Accra.
She said the Council would continue to work with the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to strengthen urban governance, address climate-related risks and support initiatives that promote sustainable cities.
“The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council remains fully committed to working with all our Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies,” she said.
Hon. Ocloo expressed confidence that the two-day forum would generate practical recommendations and deepen collaboration among stakeholders for the successful implementation of the National Urban Policy and Implementation Plan.
She encouraged participants to share experiences and contribute innovative ideas towards shaping the future of Ghana’s cities and communities.
The Ghana Urban Forum serves as a national platform for dialogue on urbanisation, bringing together government institutions, local authorities, development partners, academia, civil society and the private sector to discuss challenges and opportunities associated with the country’s growing urban centres.
