The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) has pledged its commitment to supporting educational institutions across the region to improve learning outcomes and create opportunities for students to excel.
Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo (MP), The Greater Accra Regional Minister gave the assurance on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in an address read on her behalf at the 86th Anniversary and Speech and Prize-Giving Day of Odorgonno Senior High School at Awoshie.
She said the Council would continue to collaborate with the Ghana Education Service, development partners, alumni associations and other stakeholders to create an enabling environment for schools to thrive and students to achieve their academic goals.
The Minister described education as the foundation of national development and noted that government was prioritising investment in the sector through improved learning infrastructure, enhanced teaching and learning outcomes, expanded access to secondary education, strengthened technical and vocational education, and the promotion of digital learning.
She said these interventions were aimed at building a knowledgeable, skilled and productive population capable of contributing to Ghana’s socio-economic transformation.
Hon. Ocloo urged the student to remain disciplined, embrace innovation and pursue academic excellence. She said the prizes awarded on the day were “not merely rewards for hard work but symbols of what determination, perseverance and integrity can achieve.”
The Minister commended the headmaster, management, staff, parents and alumni of Odorgonno Senior High School for their contributions to the growth and development of the institution, adding that their efforts continued to produce graduates who contribute to national development.
Established in 1940, Odorgonno Senior High School began operations at Adabraka before relocating to its current location at Awoshie. The school, whose motto is Nobis Nitendum Est (“Ours is to Strive”), is among the traditional secondary schools in the Greater Accra Region and has participated in the National Science and Maths Quiz.
