Greater Accra Regional Minister Pledges Support for Free Primary Health Care at Dodowa Launch

Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, The Greater Accra Regional Minister has pledged the region’s full support for the Free Primary Health Care Initiative at its official launch in Dodowa, describing the policy as a major step toward equitable access to healthcare.

Welcoming the President and other dignitaries on behalf of the chiefs and people of Greater Accra, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo said the initiative would ensure that every Ghanaian can access quality healthcare regardless of financial constraints.

The Minister highlighted ongoing improvements in the region ’ s health sector, including the construction of Community-based Health Planning and Services, upgrading of health centres, and strengthening of polyclinics, noting that the new policy would build on these gains.

Emphasising the human impact, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo stated that the initiative would ease the burden on families and bring essential services closer to communities from mothers in Dodowa to traders in Madina and fishermen in Ada.

The Minister also announced plans to collaborate with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to strengthen primary healthcare delivery, improve sanitation, promote community participation, and ensure inclusive access across both urban and rural areas.

The launch forms part of government’s broader agenda to build a resilient and accessible healthcare system for all Ghanaians.
