The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) on April 8, 2026, pushed for improved financial discipline among Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to address recurring audit infractions.
The call was made at a meeting with MMDCEs, Coordinating Directors, Finance Officers and Internal Auditors at the RCC Conference Hall.
Mrs. Lilian Baeka,The Chief Director of Regional Coordinating Council described the continued infractions as unacceptable, highlighting issues such as poor documentation, unaccounted expenditures, weak management of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and delays in responding to audit queries.
She noted that Management Letters for the 2025 audit cycle have already been issued, urging Assemblies to act swiftly to correct deficiencies and avoid repetition.
The RCC further directed strict compliance with financial and procurement regulations, timely submission of internal audit reports and strengthened internal controls.
Mrs. Baeka also indicated that monitoring will be intensified, with Heads of Departments to be held accountable, as efforts are stepped up to improve financial discipline and service delivery across the region.
